Seven Fruit Smoothie

After the Goetta Hobo Sandwich I decided that maybe something a little…healthier would be nice. This smoothie contains seven fruits and no sugar (if you so choose). Pineapple, orange, banana, raspberry, strawberry, blackberry and blueberry. I used fat-free vanilla yogurt, much to the distaste of my visiting younger brother who is terrified of anything that carries a fat-free label. Remember that this is a cold drink made with fresh fruit. It will not last very long.

Fair warning: I did not actually measure out how much of any one item I used, so I’m more or less guessing on ingredients. Use your own discretion.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 - 1 c Pineapple/orange juice.
  • 1 - 1 1/2 c fat-free vanilla yogurt.
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon.
  • 1/2 bag frozen, mixed fruits. (Raspberries, blackberries, blueberries.)
  • 7-8 strawberries.
  • 1 large banana.

Directions:

  1. Combine all of the above ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend on a low setting for several seconds.
  3. Use the pulse button or pulse manually to deal with any stray chunks.
  4. Add ice/frozen berries or juice to thicken/thin.
  5. Serve cold, store cold.

Note: The frozen berries function as ice to cool and help thicken the smoothie in this case. If you plan on using ice instead of frozen fruit, plan to blend at a higher setting (maybe ice crush) for longer. Add ice to the blender first.
